On the heels of calling for people to boycott shopping for Mother’s Day gifts, the following message was posted from The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan on his Facebook page.
In this life, nothing or no one but God is more important to the life of every creature than its mother. The enemy wants to commercialize on our love for our mothers, our fathers, our grandmothers, our sweethearts, in order to fatten their bottom line. Show love for your mother every day of your life. And the greatest gift that any of us could give to our mother is being a respectful son or daughter who is obedient, kind and loving to our mother.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked the question: “Who after God and The Messenger of God, should be respected, loved, and honored most?” He answered: “Your mother.” The questioner then asked: “Who next?” Prophet Muhammad said again: “Your mother.” And the questioner asked for the third time and The Prophet said again: “Your mother”. And on the fourth time, The Prophet said: “Your father”.
Without a good mother, we are nothing. That’s why the Bible says, “A wise child maketh a glad father, but a foolish child is the heaviness of its mother.” That’s why every nation should uplift women. Every nation should respect and honor the female through whom life continues. This mother’s day, go find your mother: Hug momma. Kiss momma. Tell momma that you love her and show it throughout the year. And then tightly squeeze the money in your pocket and don’t spend money that you don’t have. But if you are able to give a gift to your mother, don’t wait for mother’s day. Every time you think of her, if you want to give her something, show her your love. May Allah bless us to be kind and loving to our mothers, respectful of our fathers that our days may be long in the land which the Lord Our God will give to us.
