It seems that we have come to not only accept, but to expect that within every family unit there will be the so-called, “black sheep.” This is an idiom used to describe that one individual family member who is not only an oddball and does not quite fit in, but in most instances possesses characteristics so contrary and negative that their very existence brings shame, embarrassment and dishonor to the rest of the family. Now, hopefully it goes without saying that to use the adjective ‘black’to describe abnormal, wicked or evil behavior is just one more way the enemy uses language to reinforce racism. However, that is not the focus of this particular article.
According to the Bible, by the end of their days, Adam and Eve actually had five children, though the greatest attention is given to their first two sons, Cain and Abel – and rightfully so. There are so many lessons to learn from the lives of this “first family” of the Bible that one could write volumes. However, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan extracted one critical lesson not often reflected upon, that should be underscored and studied particularly by those of us who are planning families.
Let’s take a brief look at the most pivotal aspect in the story of Cain and Abel. Cain and Abel were brothers who were completely opposite in terms of disposition; but yet, they both came from the same womb – Eve’s. Eve bore a righteous son, Abel, but her first son, Cain, was filled with so much hatred and envy that he killed his own brother. What is not clearly evident is Scripture is an explanation as to why Cain was born with an innate capacity to execute such an unspeakable act; and why Abel could never even imagine taking the life of his own brother.
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan shared that it may have been that Cain was conceived at a time when Adam and Eve were not in harmony with Allah’s (God’s) Will and actually had suspicion in their hearts regarding the truthfulness of His instructions. Abel, on the other hand, may have been born during a time when Adam and Eve were back in harmony with their Creator and obeyed His Laws.So, two brothers, from the same womb have two completely different characteristics, which stemmed from their parent’s closeness or lack thereof to Allah (God).
In his lecture, How to Give Birth to a God, The Minister said, “Here was Eve given to Adam; the serpent deceives Eve. She eats his teaching or whatever it was that she ate, she feeds it to Adam; they fall. Now they have children. The duality is present now. He made them good; Satan made them depart from good. Now they produce children, Cain and Abel, coming out of the same womb; two children with two different dispositions. Look at it now. Right now, you can’t produce: one, two, three, four, five – turn them out like a cookie cutter. This is a great giant; this is another great giant; this is another one here – there’s another…here they come…here they come, a giant every time! No, you hit and miss. You produce a good one; four bad ones. You produce a good one and a real bad one – and a good one and a real bad one; a mediocre one and a degenerate – then a good one.”
Unfortunately, this is us – most of us have been just like Eve in this respect. Since we have never been taught How to Give Birth to a God, we hit sometimes (usually by accident) and miss the other times. However, Eve is not who we should model ourselves after; she is an example of what not to do – we should never allow the influence of Satan to supersede a commandment from Allah (God). Our example is Maryam (Mary), the mother of Jesus because Mary did not miss. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan teaches that we can be just like Mary and every time we bear a child; we can make that child a god and never miss!
The Minister said, “That’s an easy thing for Allah (God) to do, [which] is to decree that your womb will bear a beautiful life. So even if you’re trying to have children and you don’t have any, don’t despair. Just keep on preparing yourself because so many didn’t even prepare. They just had one. And one is Cain and one is Abel, more Cain than Abel.” The world is filled with too many devils; so, from now on, every time a child comes forth, let that child be a god.
