Status Report from Willie Muhammad of New Orleans:
Two of the most recent meditations:
Shreveport, LA – A sister who attended the training contacted members of the newly formed mediation team about a threat that had been made against the life of one of her young male relatives. Her family member stole three guns from another young man. The brother who the guns belonged to came to the home with his crew and “threatened to kill everyone in the home”, if his possessions were not returned. The lead mediation team member made contact with the brother who made the threat and talked to him about allowing him members of the mediation to work to resolve this beef. The brother was willing to squash the beef if his belongings were returned. Brother Marvin then reached out to the brother who was accused of stealing the guns, who at this point had been hiding out in a local motel out of fear of his life. They were able to facilitate the return of some of the property, however one of the three items was already sold. Despite that they were able to work out restitution and settle the conflict. Both of the young brothers were invited to participate in a sit down on the next day where further mediation took place. Multiple lives were saved with this one mediation.
Houston, TX. – While the brothers were out in the community. Members of the Fruit of Islam (F.O.I.) were out in the community going door to door in in a local apartment complex. A young lady drove by and said “these young men are fighting and one of them have a gun!” The brothers quickly ran toward the area were the conflict was taking place and sure enough, the young brother had a gun; and was waiving it at the other brother. Then immediately without fear or hesitation, the F.O.I. jumped in between the two brothers. The one without the gun continued pursue the young brother who had the gun. The F.O.I were literally between the young brother with gun and the other brother without one. The F.O.I were able to separate them long enough, so that the young man with the gun was able to leave the scene, without anyone getting shot.
