Harold Camping, Mystery Babylon and God’s Judgment

Since I do not keep track of everyone who is predicting the end of the world, I honestly had no idea who Harold Camping was until nearly every media entity in America and throughout the globe gave him the spotlight this past week. May 21 came and went. This reminded me of the same frenzy afforded to Pastor Terry Jones as he prepared to serve up charcoaled Holy Qur’ans on his church lawn.

I didn’t join the online army in mocking Camping, but not one ounce of my being believed in his calculations so I went on with my normal day. I recently read that he has now stated that May 21 was an “invisible judgment day” and that the “real physical rapture” will take place October 21.

All I can really think about is how is it this 89-year-old man can attract this enormous attention yet the media goes silent when the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan tells us that America is under the four great judgments of God, as warned by his teacher the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. These four great judgments are rain, hail, snow and earthquakes.

Have we been paying attention to the weather lately? No, really? What about the record flooding? What about the record setting snow that blanketed the country last year and early this year?

According to statistics from the Weather Channel, the recent Joplin, Mo. tornado is the deadliest single U.S. tornado in 64 years. Only 7 tornadoes documented in U.S. history have claimed more lives than the Joplin, Mo. tornado.

This Joplin tragedy was preceded by tornadoes ripping near Jackson, Miss. and then Raleigh, N.C in mid-April. We can’t forget the nearly 250 tornadoes over a 4-day span that struck places like Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Ala. Even St. Louis was hit hard.

Where is God’s name in all of this?

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center’s latest figures show that there have been nearly 500 tornado deaths in the U.S. this year alone and we still have six months remaining. That’s the most since 1953.

What does this have to do with the Hon. Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan? Throughout his writings and messages over a 40 year period, the Hon. Elijah Muhammad warned America that God intended to afflict this nation and that the worst was yet to come. He also boldly declared that everything he taught came directly from God in Person and that he was The Messenger in our midst.

Where is America in scripture? Surely the most powerful nation in the last 6,000 years has to be mentioned somewhere in there, right? Well the blind among us may say “I don’t see America by name in the book.”

However, the Hon. Elijah Muhammad pointed out that the Book of Revelation talks about a mystery Babylon. Mathematically, in order to understand the mysterious one, we have to know something about the known one.

In his book Message to the Blackman, published in1965, Hon. Elijah Muhammad writes:

“I compare the fall of America with the fall of ancient Babylon. Her wickedness (sins), is the same as history shows of ancient Babylon. “Babylon is suddenly fallen and the destroyed howl for her; take balm for her pains, if so she may be healed” (Jer. 51:8). What were the sins of ancient Babylon? According to history she was rich; she was proud and her riches increased her corruption. She had every merchandise that the nations wanted or demanded; her ships carried her merchandise to the ports of every nation.

She was a drunkard; wine and strong drinks were in her daily practice. She was filled with adultery and murder; she persecuted and killed the people of God. She killed the saints and prophets of Allah (God). Hate and filthiness, gambling, sports of every evil as you practice in America were practiced in Babylon. Only America is modern and much worse. Ancient Babylon was destroyed by her neighboring nations. I warn you to let their destruction serve as a warning for America. This people has gone to the limit in doing evil; as God dealt with ancient people, so will He deal with the modern Babylon (America).”

Minister Farrakhan has continued the same warning since he rebuilt the Nation of Islam in 1977. Why should we take him a little more seriously?

Some have mocked him as being crazy when he talks about the existence of the Mother Wheel (or so-called UFOs) as described in the Book of Ezekiel. At the close of his Saviours’ Day 2010 address on February 28, Minister Farrakhan warned, “I’m telling you, when I finish this lecture, today, God is going to answer what I said. You will see the Wheels over the major cities and the chastisement is going to increase.”

Fast forward to his latest press conference held on March 31, 2011. Minister Farrakhan warned “The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said that four great judgments will be used by God to bring America down. These are judgments not by the hands of man, but they are by the hands of the One we believe is the Creator of the heavens and Earth…Open your eyes and look at the increasing rain, hail, snow.”

During that same press conference he also warned that a major earthquake is headed for America. “Death and destruction is at the door of all of us and we are worse prepared than the Japanese and the arrogance to think that our nuclear reactors are secure. America has nuclear reactors sitting on major fault lines, much death, I’m going to say it again, much death is on its way” he said.

Since that press conference, what have we seen on the news? Much death. While others are paying attention to Camping, I have my ears tuned into what Minister Farrakhan is saying and teaching. I bear witness that he is a man of God.

Matter of fact, as I’m wrapping up this blog more tornadoes have hit parts of the country. To everyone, including weather experts, who keep wondering what, why and who is causing all of this unusual weather?
