On February 9, I was one of the speakers for Career Day at Girls & Boys Preparatory Academy. I was invited to speak on my careers as a journalist, motivational speaker and entrepreneur. I use to teach at this school a few years ago and I loved the environment. So I was speaking to mostly my former students! What a joy! I addressed the seniors and juniors about smart financial choices, the state of the economy, my failures and successes in business and why they must create a job for themselves. Thank you to the school administration and staff that worked hard to make this happen!
On February 12, I was the featured speaker at Thurgood Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas to present my I AM M.E.D.I.A. workshop to their journalism students. I shared with them my intriguing coverage of news events such as Hurricane Katrina, The Jena Six and Hurricane Ike. I also shared with them multiple ways they can make money through contributing writing, blogging, videography, photography, etc. I really appreciate Ms. Jackson, who heads the library department, for hosting me at the school! The students loved it!
