Placing thread through the eye of a needle can be a daunting task for most.
To accomplish all of this you would have to enter into such a deep meditative state that your pulse decelerates to keep your hands steady while sculpting in between heartbeats. Your final work can only be viewed under a microscope because it’s small enough to fit on the head of a pin, the tip of an eyelash or within the eye of needle.
He’s called the “8th wonder of the world†and has confounded medical scientists by crafting pieces as small as the molecular size of a blood cell.
“Many scientists are shocked by my work but to be honest this is not the smallest level I can sculpt. My best work is yet to comeâ€, Mr. Wigan, 52, told The Final Call.
Houstonians gathered at the Gremillion Fine Art Gallery to see Mr. Wigan’s work for themselves. Not with the naked eye, but only through microscopes.
“Easily one of the most phenomenal exhibits I have ever witnessed. He’s both an amazing talent and awesomely kind manâ€, says Crystal Washington.
“We want to have a museum in the city that not only shows the struggles of Blacks but also the triumphant stories such as Mr. Wiganâ€, says Larry Earl, HMAAC executive director.
“His art is amazing but his heart is even more amazing†says Rose Spencer of BWG Media Group, one of the lead hosts in Houston.
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee presented Mr. Wigan with proclamations and says “he is magnificent and significant. His striking art work has penetrated our minds and he is a treasure to be shared with the worldâ€, she says
