Wakiti Muhammad is the co-founder and director of The Elevated Places k-12 School in Houston Texas. Known for its innovation and unique school concept and culture, The Elevated Places has gained national attention.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Wakiti Muhammad began her career as a certified teacher in inner city schools after earning her B.A. in Elementary Education from Southern University. In 2005, she relocated to Houston Texas after her family home was destroyed by the horrific Hurricane Katrina.
In Houston, Mrs. Muhammad moved into private education. Known for her passion and belief in homeschooling and individualized instruction, she has served as a consultant to many organizations on the implementation of alternative educational programs. She has written countless articles including the controversial “Public Education is a Facade: The Writing is on the Blackboard” for the Houston Chronicle. Equipped with a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership, Wakiti Muhammad works to help others bring their creativity, vision, and business ideas to fruition through her company Elevated Concepts which provides services from interior design to project development.
Mrs. Muhammad is currently a doctoral student, pursing a PHD in Educational Leadership with a Concentration in the K12 sector.
As a wife, mother of four, student, community servant, and educator, Wakiti Muhammad continues to stress her core beliefs that there are no limitations on human potential.
