Lately there has been quite a bit of static in the connection between Black men and Black women. Something ugly has bubbled to the surface and just like any impurity it is time for cleansing and healing. But first I’ve got to say a little something to my brothers.
It is apparent from what Jill Scott is saying in the performance piece above that the way we state our case to women is just not good enough for the time and what must be done. The new mantra for the Black male has got to be “Excellence From This Point On.”
Energy flows where attention goes. So to focus on what happened, what she said, what some other people did, who’s working against you is only going to keep us stuck right where we are. Truth be told when we choose to be the men that we were created to be there is no war between men and women. If you walk away from that conflict then women will either stop fighting or go fight their own selves.
So now here’s my suggestion: Place yourself in an environment where you’re surrounded by black men who discuss and live life in a way that empowers Black men and in turn empowers Black women, Black children and Black families. This will cause the formation of true “Black Communities” and a place of honor and respect for Black Men.
Here are two of my favorites. Earth SonSpirit where Healing, Wholeness, Sacred Masculinity and Self Discovery are the order of the day. Nation Of Islam under the leadership and tutelage of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan where a unique view of the special relationship between the Supreme Being and Black Men all over this planet is brought to light and explored.
As it says in Psalms 82:6 “Ye are gods. All of you, Children of the Most High God.” Women are naturally inclined to be at peace and in harmony with God.
