Ft. Yates, ND–The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will host the Mni Wiconi Benefit Concert from Friday, November 25, through Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Prairie Knights Casino in Ft. Yates, North Dakota. The concert will feature dozens of internationally recognized entertainers, actors, leaders, youth and will be broadcasted through Powwows.com to the wider world. The broadcast will feature a text to donate campaign to assist the tribe in raising legal funds in its fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
“The Mni Wiconi Benefit Concert will be an event that will be unprecedented,” said Mni Wiconi Benefit Concert Organizer Yonasda Lonewolf. “The artists, leaders and people willing to donate their time, talents and resources to help Standing Rock fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline only goes to show the world how united we are and we hope everyone can join us in this historical event.”
Intended on raising funds in its legal battle against the Dakota Access Pipeline, the concert will continue to raise awareness and leverage allies and resources from all walks of life to stand with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Also including a roundtable of nationally renowned journalists, speakers, and activists, the concert provides a platform for unity and strategy for the tribe and its allies to continue to empower the next generation. The concert will feature award- winning Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, Sicangu Lakota hip-hop artist Frank Waln, Supaman, Scatter Their Own, Classical guitarist Gabriel Ayala, Diné singer Radmilla Cody, Quese IMC, Naataanii Means, Native American Flute Player Darren Thompson, Jasiri X, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Record Label Malik Yusef, Journalist Shaun King, Rev. Yearwood, founder of the Hip Hop Caucus, Rebel Diaz and and more nationally recognized artists and poets. The concert will be hosted by comedians Dallas Goldtooth and Tonia Jo Hall.
