The U.S. Supreme Court ordered a federal judge in Georgia to hear and rule on the claim of innocence in the controversial murder case against death row inmate Troy Davis. According to Martina Correia, her brother is “elated about the news and is ready to continue the fight.â€
“He (Troy Davis) is excited about the news but he also said he keeps in his mind that these people can still take his lifeâ€, Ms. Correia told The Final Call. “I too am very happy about this and we hope we can get a fair judge. We want justice served.â€
The announcement came on August 17 from the Supreme Court that the Georgia District Court must “receive testimony and make findings of fact as to whether evidence that could have been obtained at the time of trial clearly establishes [Davis’] innocence.â€
