Following two powerful private meetings with Houston’s Mayor Sylvester Turner (the first in July; the second in November), Houston’s rap elite will host a public community town hall meeting on Nov. 26 to discuss the rising tide of street violence, lack of opportunity and what must be done insure the future of Houston’s inner city. Hosted by community activist Deric Muhammad, the meeting will take place in Houston’s historic 5th Ward at the newly remodeled Deluxe Theater (3303 Lyons Ave/ 1pm).
Topics to be discussed include Police/Community Relations, the need for trade schools, business ownership, the need to create jobs, etc. Artists include Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, Scarface, K-Rino and others. Mayor Sylvester Turner is also scheduled to be in attendance. All media outlets are welcome to cover the event.
