CHICAGO—The Mahdi Theatre Company (MTC) recently held a successful, sold-out encore performance of the stage play, “A Soldier’s Daughter.”
The play, written and produced by MTC founder Margaret Mahdi was held at the famed DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center on May 7. Chicago’s City Lit Theatre hosted the three-day sold-out play from March 10 through March 12, which was the company’s first production after a three-year hiatus.
Those performances were also sold-out, and the encore performance was a case of “back by popular demand.” The play’s storyline dealt with real-life family issues about health, responsibility, family secrets, life decisions, and relying on faith and God.
“A Soldier’s Daughter” was directed by Runako Jahi. Ms. Mahdi thanked the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Executive Shura Council of the Nation of Islam, members of the Nation of Islam and the community for their support. She also thanked the DuSable Museum.
