THE DIVINE GRIND: By the way he looks, one could not tell that The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and his delegation had to catch a 6:00AM flight from NC to NY that same morning of this May 23rd taping of The Breakfast Club. After landing, he went to a hotel near the airport but instead of resting, as some would think he should, he called up people to his suite for a lengthy meeting. Yes, a lengthy meeting full of wisdom and work. He then asked to be excused so he could prepare himself to depart the hotel and head over to the Power 105.1 studios in Manhattan. The entourage weaved through intense NY traffic. I am always in awe of how the E-Team does everything in preparation to move The Minister from place to place. Even if the destination is ten minutes away, the attention to detail is STILL the same. It’s not a game. It’s not for show or vanity. It’s serious business they way they move out.
That Breakfast Club interview ended up being over an hour and a half, yet The Minister was still vibrant as he signed books, took photos, and greeted many along with radio personality Angie Martinez and actor/activist Jesse Williams. Afterwards, his delegation headed straight to Newark, NJ—but instead of going to take a rest at the hotel ahead of a scheduled event at Metropolitan Baptist Church–The Minister visited the home of the mother of Mayor Ras Baraka for over an hour. When he finally got to the hotel in Newark, you would think that he would finally get some rest. Nope, he calls up others for another meeting full of wisdom and work. Yes, another meeting! He would then take time to eat just a bowl of bean soup, take a brief rest, and then head over to Metropolitan Baptist Church to deliver a near 2-hour message followed by being bombarded by people who wanted to just shake his hand, hug him and/or take a picture. He spent over an hour in the Pastor’s office after the lecture shaking hands and posing for pictures. Not denying anyone. It’s in those moments, that one of his security personnel has to step in–out of love–and shut things down because the way The Minister is in love with us, he would be there ALL NIGHT with his people…literally…
